Equipment

  • Sheet Pan

Ingredients

  • 16 whole chicken wings or 8 wings and 8 drummettes
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ¾ cup bbq sauce
  • ½ cup honey

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. One at a time, coat each wing in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Place the prepared wings skin side up on the baking sheet.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the skin is golden.
  • Combine the BBQ sauce and honey in a large mixing bowl and toss the cooked wings until they are evenly coated.
  • Increase the heat on the oven to 450 F and bake the coated wings for 6 to 9 minutes.
  • Let the wings cool and then serve.

Notes

  • Make sure to pat dry the wings before using them. Excess moisture will make it difficult for the wings to crisp up in the oven.
  • For extra crispy wings, dry the skin before baking by leaving them uncovered on a rack in the fridge for 3 hours.
  • To add some heat to the wings, add a bit of sriracha to the honey BBQ sauce before tossing the wings.
  • Make sure to leave enough space between the wings so the hot air can circulate between them for even crispy wings.
  • Make sure only to add the sauce near the end. If you add the honey BBQ sauce to the wings too early, it’ll burn in the oven.
  • Lining the sheet pan with parchment paper will make cleaning up much more manageable.
