Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 2 Honeycrisp apples or any apples of your choosing
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • Using a mandolin, slice the apples about ⅛” thick. If you don’t have a mandolin, you can use a knife but try to cut the slices as consistently thin as possible.
  • Place the apple slices in a large bowl or baking sheet and sprinkle the cinnamon on top.
  • Working in batches, add the seasoned apple slices to the air fryer and cook for 14 to 18 minutes at 300 F, flipping them halfway through the cooking time.
  • Remove them from the air fryer and set on a plate to cool. During this time they crisp up even more. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Try to cut the apple slices as uniformly as possible as it helps them cook evenly.
  • Some pieces will be smaller than others due to the shape of the apples. You can group the smaller end pieces to air fry them together or keep a close eye on all the chips and remove the smaller ones as they finish cooking first.
  • The chips will firm up as they start to cool outside the air fryer basket. However, if your apples are extra juicy, they may need an extra minute or two in the air fryer.
  • If your apple chips fly around in the air fryer, you can pack a small rack over them to help hold them down.
  • Avoid overlapping the apple chips as you want every part of them exposed to the hot circulating air so they crisp up.
  • Instead of cinnamon, try seasoning the apple chips with apple pie spice!
