- 1 ripe avocado
- 2 pieces whole grain bread
- lemon
- salt & pepper to taste
- red chili flakes to taste
Cut avocado in half and remove pit, then scoop out flesh of avocado into a small bowl. Mash up avocado with a fork, leaving it slightly chunky.
Toast 2 bread slices in toaster.
Spread the mashed avocado on top of the toast.
Top off with a squeeze of lemon juice, salt & pepper and red chili flakes.
- Don’t skip adding the lemon, salt and pepper as it really helps bring out the avocado flavors.
- Use fresh lemon instead of bottled lemon juice. Bottled lemon juice sometimes has a bitter taste to it so it's best to use fresh lemon.
- I like to mash my avocados directly on my toast but if you’re making a lot to feed a crowd, it’d suggest mashing the avocados in a bowl.
- You can easily make this gluten-free with gluten-free bread.
- Thickly sliced bread works best to hold up the avocados and any potential toppings but again, feel free to use whatever you have.
