  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 pieces whole grain bread
  • lemon
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • red chili flakes to taste

  • Cut avocado in half and remove pit, then scoop out flesh of avocado into a small bowl. Mash up avocado with a fork, leaving it slightly chunky.
  • Toast 2 bread slices in toaster.
  • Spread the mashed avocado on top of the toast.
  • Top off with a squeeze of lemon juice, salt & pepper and red chili flakes.

  • Don’t skip adding the lemon, salt and pepper as it really helps bring out the avocado flavors.
  • Use fresh lemon instead of bottled lemon juice. Bottled lemon juice sometimes has a bitter taste to it so it's best to use fresh lemon.
  • I like to mash my avocados directly on my toast but if you’re making a lot to feed a crowd, it’d suggest mashing the avocados in a bowl.
  • You can easily make this gluten-free with gluten-free bread.
  • Thickly sliced bread works best to hold up the avocados and any potential toppings but again, feel free to use whatever you have.
