- 16 whole chicken wings or 8 wings and 8 drummettes
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ¾ cup bbq sauce
- ½ cup honey
Preheat oven to 425 F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. One at a time, coat each wing in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Place the prepared wings skin side up on the baking sheet.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the skin is golden.
Combine the BBQ sauce and honey in a large mixing bowl and toss the cooked wings until they are evenly coated.
Increase the heat on the oven to 450 F and bake the coated wings for 6 to 9 minutes.
Let the wings cool and then serve.
- Make sure to pat dry the wings before using them. Excess moisture will make it difficult for the wings to crisp up in the oven.
- For extra crispy wings, dry the skin before baking by leaving them uncovered on a rack in the fridge for 3 hours.
- To add some heat to the wings, add a bit of sriracha to the honey BBQ sauce before tossing the wings.
- Make sure to leave enough space between the wings so the hot air can circulate between them for even crispy wings.
- Make sure only to add the sauce near the end. If you add the honey BBQ sauce to the wings too early, it’ll burn in the oven.
- Lining the sheet pan with parchment paper will make cleaning up much more manageable.
